| What is a Thermal Camera? A thermographic camera or infrared camera is a device that forms an image using infrared radiation, similar to a common camera that forms an image using visible light. Instead of the 450–750 nanometer range of the visible light camera, infrared cameras operate in wavelengths as long as 14,000 nm (14 µm).
The key to thermal cameras are the size of the camera lens you want to use and how far down range you want to see. Thermal Cameras come in two flavors Cooled and Uncooled. Cooled camera can see further down range with a smaller lens, but are very expensive and can not be solar powered effectively. JES will only be dealing with uncooled cameras. You will see in the information below basic inexpensive thermal cameras, but these cameras are priced with the smallest lens possible 13mm 17 degree horizontal view angle.(200 meter range). A 60mm lens can be effective up to a mile at 9 degree horizontal angle, but can be expensive. If you start adding bigger lenses some of these cameras can get as expensive as $150,000.00 or more. When deciding what you want in a thermal camera it is best to consult the thermal camera dealer and we work with most of them. We are in the business of powering and delivering the data from the Thermal Camera, selecting a thermal camera can take some time. However if you are looking at short range coverage the basic cameras will do very well. Please when asking about powering the thermal camera you have chosen; we must know the lens size as some require more power.
The other side of the coin however is to use a remote solar powered thermal camera and not spend all that money on a lens. See camera specifications below |
JES has teamed with several Major Thermal camera manufactures to offer true remote surveillance systems
JES when it absolutely has to work and work all of time.
Custom systems can be quoted as in most cases applications are very unique We have many different wireless systems to suit your specific applications and will quote systems to drive all manufactures cameras
We can also offer a local DVR that up can upload with cellular or wireless.
(Please note all DOD sub-contractors are eligible for a 5% rebate on all JES products and services through the DOD).
E-mail us your requirements and we will suggest several camera options
Axis Thermal Cameras. Axis Thermal cameras are perhaps the only company that does not come from a military background. They are always known for there quality and that carries over into Thermal. Axis cameras have two way audio support.
